Again as I wrote in a reply to the lamp list...

Easy does it...

These events are incredibly fun and useful. I have been to several 
barcamps and g33k dinners etc.

LAMP and open source runs deep at these events and Microsoft is 
sponsoring many of them.

So don't throw the baby out with the bath water :)


Put another way, these events are rapidly becoming what LUGs should be. 
High energy events with massive amounts of knowledge and valuable 
contacts. That has been sorely missing in the LUGs I have been attending 
as of late.
